ALWAYS Room For Dessert Tuesday, December 13 2011 by

There is ALWAYS room for dessert. Right?
When I was young, I assured my mother that while I was quite full and could not finish my potatoes, I had saved a special spot for pie. While I didn't always have room enough to finish my dinner, I ALWAYS saved a space for dessert. Now as an adult, I find this same sort of scenario periodically presents itself. While I still enjoy a slice of pie or a sliver of cake, I favor a sip of dessert wine far more. Besides, in terms of flavor profiles, a dessert wine can provide you with 'cherry pie in a glass' or 'creme brulee in a flute'. Beyond that, on your palate there's a finish unrivaled by anything a fork could deliver. Whether your preference is to follow dinner with something to sip or something to eat, most would agree that a combination of BOTH is ideal. If you decide to have your cake, eat it too and sip as well, cheers to that and to you! There are many ways to pair dessert with wine. Here are a few... Vanilla/Custard:Flavor: mild, buttery Wine: Late Harvest Riesling & Sparkling Wine Fruit/Spice: Flavor: pears, apples Wine: Late Harvest Gewurztraminer & Sparkling Wine Chocolate: Flavor: dark, rich Wine: Port, Late Harvest Pinot Noir, Banyuls & Sparkling Wine You'll note that Sparkling Wine was listed as an option for each dessert pairing. There's a reason. Sparkling Wine and its effervescent quality tends to be a very versatile partner for pastries, cakes & more. To celebrate the season, Northwest Wines To You is pleased to present a Dessert Wine 4-Pack. Remember, there is ALWAYS room for dessert.
