2010 Pinot Gris Dundee Southview Hills

About This Product

Tasting Notes:

Light straw color with a nose reminiscent of Champagne. Light, crisp and approachable with balanced acids and residual sugar. Orange blossom and nectarines on the nose, the palate displays mandarin, mango, and hint of honey.

Food Pairing:

Pairs easily with light appetizers, salads, and seafood.

Production:

250 cases produced.

Other Notes:

The 2009 Vintage was characterized by a cool spring followed by a very warm summer. Bloom conditions were ideal and a strong crop set ensued. The summer had a record number of 90+ degree days that drove early maturity in the fruit. We pulled leaves early in the vineyard, which allowed the grape cluster to develop some resistance to the high heat in late July, avoiding sunburned conditions on the fruit.

REVIEWS

Vineyard Notes:
Our family is first and foremost viticulturists, believing that the journey to a great wine starts in the vineyard. The Durants have grown winegrapes in the Dundee hills for over 35 years. The Durants planted Pinot Gris about 15 years ago and were one of the early adopters of this type of vine. The Lark Vineyard Block, planted in 1991, is located on a lower elevation vineyard that generally has warmer afternoon temperatures, but cools rapidly in the evening as the convective wind currents pull heat off the valley floor. Leaves were removed from around the clusters allowing for good air circulation and exposure. The Coyote block was planted to Pinot Gris in 2005. It is located on the main estate vineyard and is higher elevation vineyard. It is characterized by classic Jory soils and warm evenings. All our vineyards are sustainably farmed and LIVE and Salmon Safe Certified.

Production Notes:
Pioneers in the Oregon Wine Industry with nearly 40 years growing in the Dundee Hills, the Durant’s have select estate vineyards crafted into premium wine by some the finest winemakers in Oregon. The 2009 Pinot Gris was crafted by Jesse Lange of Lange winery. The Lange Estate Winery was the 4th producer of Pinot Gris in the United States. The Lange’s have developed a reputation as one of the premier producers of Pinot Gris in Oregon and the US. Aged 6 Months in 100% Stainless Steel.
