About This Product
A meticulous blend of Grenache, Zinfandel, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine blended by taste, not recipe. Aromas of boysenberries, earth, black tea, and cassis. The flavor leads with a burst of spice and ripe fruit, then finishes with mild oak and grape tannins.
Tasting Notes:
The nose of Black Dot delights with hits of black pepper, licorice, cloves, and dusty raspberries. This wine has a balanced tannin structure with an extremely long and nuanced finish of blueberries, marionberries, anise, and earth.

Winemaker Notes:
We get many questions in the tasting room as to how we determine a blend. Our wines are vinted individually in barrel. When finished, we take a small sample from each barrel and begin the blending trials. Of course we hope for the ‘economical blend’ – (“what would happen if we just blended all of these together?”), but that tends not to work out. Each barrel has its own special high and low notes and poses its own challenges. When we blend our Black Dot, we are looking for a similarity between bottlings and something special that typifies the year and conditions that it was made in. +3 weeks of blending trials yielded our most bold Black Dot yet. This year’s release of Black Dot is a ‘non-vintage’ blend – a combination of the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon (much improved by an extra 10 months in barrel), and the 2008 Syrah, Primitivo, and Grenache. (Sorry: offers of first borns, mineral rights, and ocean front property no longer accepted in trade for Black Dot).
