About This Product
Tasting Notes:
Clones of Pommard and Wadensvil Pinot Noir from the nearby Hoffarth vineyard combine to produce an elegant wine that was crafted to showwcase the fruit. The weather in 2009 cooperated and produced a vintage that is just now coming into its own and which will continue to integrate nicely for some time.
The Hoffarth vineyard is the closest to Bishop Creek but this Pinot Noir reserve, made entirely from Hoffarth fruit, shows just how a little distance, aspect, sunlight, and slightly different soil will affect identical clones of Pinot Noir. Here the Pommard and Wadensvil clones, that are also found in the main vineyard at Bishop Creek, produce a more elegant and nuanced wine, compared to the sometimes brooding and earthy wines that we have come to covet from Bishop Creek. The wine expresses the complexities of the vintage, which saw both heat spikes and cooler ripening periods. It is just now integrating its components and will continue to cellar well. Only 48 cases produced.
